PALESTINIAN GIRLS RAISE THEIR VOICES FOR FREEDOM

What does it mean to be a young Palestinian girl in 2024? These children at a displacement camp in Deir Al Balah, southern Gaza, sum up their plight with a moving song. They sing of their love of Palestinian family, land and resources. But the tone changes when the lyrics turn to the history of the Z*onist invasion. Their words are a cry for freedom in the midst of oppression and, according to the International Court of Justice, plausible g*nocide.

UNICEF has declared Gaza the most dangerous place in the world to be a child. On average, one is k*lled there every 15 minutes. The bombs k*ll indiscriminately, ending the lives of anyone who happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. No child of any origin deserves the trauma or the pain these youngsters are facing.

Some wonder why Africans should be concerned with the suffering of Palestinians and the destruction of their homes, schools, hospitals and places of worship. Beyond a similar shared struggle against imperialism, we also know many Africans have lived in Palestine for centuries.
