What’s Next for Hunter Biden’s Recent Guilty Felony Verdict

After only three hours of deliberation, a Delaware jury found Hunter Biden guilty on three felony gun charges – including one count of buying a gun while using narcotics. Will President Biden pardon his son or commute his sentence to protect him from going to prison?
Fox News reports on what the jury convicted Hunter of:
Prosecutors worked to prove that Hunter Biden lied on a federal firearm form, known as ATF Form 4473, in October 2018 when he ticked a box labeled “No” when asked if he is an unlawful user of a firearm or addicted to controlled substances. Hunter Biden purchased the gun from a store called StarQuest Shooters & Survival Supply in Wilmington.
Hunter Biden faced charges of making a false statement in the purchase of a gun, making a false statement related to information required to be kept by a federally licensed gun dealer, and possession of a gun by a person who is an unlawful user of or addicted to a controlled substance.
Just to be clear, this verdict only relates to the gun charges. Hunter also has another trial in a few months regarding failure to pay taxes, which includes nine counts (six misdemeanors and three felonies).
In the tax evasion case, the Deep State DOJ tried to get Hunter Biden a sweetheart plea deal (including on the gun charges), only to see it fall apart in spectacular fashion. The judge threw it out after a member of Hunter’s legal team allegedly misrepresented herself as a Republican attorney to have an important filing removed from the docket.
But let’s focus on today’s guilty verdict. The most incriminating evidence in the gun charge trial occurred when Special Counsel David Weiss played an audiobook recording of Hunter Biden’s memoir Beautiful Things, which involved Hunter narrating a passage where he admits to buying a gun during four years of illegal drug use.
What a savvy move by the prosecutor to use Hunter’s own words against him. So even though the President’s son declined to testify on the witness stand, the prosecution was able to get Hunter’s testimony on record for the jury.
Also incriminating in the trial was the testimony of Hunter’s ex-girlfriend, who admitted to throwing away the gun (while loaded) in a public trash can and later tried to retrieve it. However, someone else discovered the gun before she could locate it.
The charges in this case were very straightforward – as opposed to President Trump’s trial, in which the judge noted that the jury didn’t have to agree on what kind of crime had been committed. Hunter signed a federal form stating that he was not a drug user when he bought the gun, even though he admitted to using narcotics during this period. Making a false statement on a gun purchase form is a federal crime.
Hunter faces up to 25 years in prison over the three charges. Since Hunter is a first-time offender, we don’t believe the sentencing will be very severe. Hunter will find out his fate within 120 days – after the Democrat National Convention and when the 2024 presidential campaign is in full swing.
