The sweetener I have been using for decades, Xylitol, is apparently now increasing my risk of a heart attack and stroke. I’m glad I didn’t know this 10 years ago, or I could have died! I’ll never forget inviting my parents to my house for a great dinner one evening in the 1970’s complete with artichokes, which mom loved. They had to decline because dads heart specialist had him on a low salt diet for his heart problems…and artichokes apparently have too much salt in them. He was also taking aspirin daily and had to avoid eggs since they raised his risk of elevated fat levels in his blood. Help me with this, please. Let’s talk about yesteryears medical advice as opposed to today’s medical advice. Was their advice better in 1960, or is it better today? Much has changed, hasn’t it?
