Dr. Sy Garte Live with Rick Walker

Dr. Sy Garte, a distinguished biochemist, has made significant contributions to the scientific community and the dialogue between science and faith. He is the author of "Science and Faith in Harmony" (Kregel), with a foreword by Sean McDowell, and "The Works of His Hands" (Kregel, 2019). In addition to these works, he has authored over two hundred scientific publications and four previous books. Dr. Garte has held professorships at New York University, the University of Pittsburgh, and Rutgers University. His extensive career includes serving as division director at the National Institutes of Health and as acting Vice President for Research at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. He also contributed his expertise to the Board of Advisors for the John Templeton Foundation. In his ongoing dedication to integrating science and faith, Sy serves as the Editor-in-Chief of "God and Nature" magazine and as the vice president of the Washington, DC chapter of the American Scientific Affiliation (ASA). A Fellow of the ASA, he is also a lay leader and certified Lay Servant in the United Methodist Church. Though retired from active employment, Sy remains actively engaged in writing and evangelizing, both online and within the church community. He contributes to journals such as Perspectives in Science and Christian Faith and maintains a blog, "The Book of Works." His book "The Works of His Hands: A Scientist's Journey from Atheism to Faith" marks his first foray into writing about science and Christian faith, a field in which he continues to inspire and influence through his thoughtful and thought-provoking contributions.
