Welcome to Episode 8 of Molecular Playground! In this episode, I make the highly energetic compound known as Hexamine! Hexamine has broad applications in camping fuel tablets, military-grade explosives, and organic reactions!

The science behind its synthesis is simple! Ammonia condenses with formaldehyde into a cage-like molecule with the structure of adamantane! This form packs a lot of energy into one gram—30 kilojoules in fact!—making it perfect for sustaining fires or packing more punch in demolitions!

Warning:
Hexamine fires can get very hot! Take necessary precautions when handling!
