Narendra Modi has been sworn in as India's primeminister for a third term in a grand ceremony at thepresidential palace in Delhi.

The leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) tookhis oath, saying he would "do right to all manner ofpeople without affection or ill-will".

Modi's party won the general election with 293 seats, amuch lower margin than predicted by exit polls - as a resurging opposition won 234 seats.

Thousands of guests have attended his inauguration,including the heads of neighbouring Bangladesh,Nepal, Sri Lanka, and the Maldives - but not Pakistan or China.
