Momentum grows behind Democratic boycott of Netanyahu speech

House Democrats are planning to boycott Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech to Congress on July 24, protesting his handling of the Hamas war and his disregard for President Biden’s approach to the conflict.

This boycott follows speculation that Speaker Mike Johnson would invite Netanyahu to counter Democratic criticism of the Israeli leader.

Progressive Democrats, including Rep. Hank Johnson, cite longstanding grievances with Netanyahu’s conservative policies and previous actions, such as his opposition to the Iran nuclear deal under President Obama, The Hill reported.
