NEMA 17 Stepper Motor Goes 230 RPM If Gradually Accelerated on Compass Magnet Motor 1
1 year ago
98
We learned a valuable lesson about stepper motors.
That lesson is that most of the power is used up in starting and stopping it.
If on the other hand it runs continuously and accelerates gradually it can go pretty fast.
In this case it gets up to 230 RPM with the compass magnet motor also spinning at 230 RPM.
We've abandoned the feedback for the time being.
We tried to see how fast the stepper motor (not the compass magnet motor) would accelerate to and it got to 370 RPM without even a little stress on the 8 AAA batteries and motor controller. The was no sign of warming of either.
Stay tuned.
