Michigan Struggles With School Absenteeism

The AECF has just released their 2024 Kids Count Data Book, which contains different markers that Michigan schools struggle with. A startling 72% of fourth graders are not proficient in reading, and 20% of high school students were not graduating on time. The AECF recommends several measures in the data book for struggling schools to improve their situation, such as keeping a stricter record of absenteeism and providing intensive tutoring through the school to students who need it.
