Acts - Chapter 1 Summary:

Acts chapter 1 recounts the period after Jesus' resurrection, highlighting His final instructions to the apostles and His ascension into heaven. Jesus instructs His disciples to remain in Jerusalem to receive the Holy Spirit, who will empower them to be His witnesses throughout the world. After Jesus ascends, the disciples, along with other believers, including Mary and Jesus' brothers, devote themselves to prayer. Peter leads the group in addressing the need to replace Judas Iscariot, who betrayed Jesus and died. The chapter concludes with the selection of Matthias by casting lots to restore the number of apostles to twelve.
