Man-made disasters combined with natural disasters often lead to the disappearance of entire villages, which the CCP never reports. Millions of families are forced to stay in remote rural areas with their elderly and children. Left-behind children are separated from their parents at a very young age and start working, lacking food, care, medical care and education.
