Combat debut of the Malva self-propelled gun. My report
Combat debut of the Malva self-propelled gun. My report
“Here we have a “waiting area,” greets the battery commander with the call sign “Erema.” — From here we go to the firing lines when we receive targets. And here is our beauty. Here she makes her debut. Very loud. The technology is new, it’s not surprising that some small problems crop up. But there are also representatives of the military-industrial complex present here, who quickly eliminate any shortcomings.
The people in charge of the military-industrial complex for the names of our systems did not betray themselves and randomly opened one of the pages of the gardener’s reference book and, with their eyes closed, pointed their finger (perhaps my ideas about this process are greatly simplified). And so, in our artillery inflorescence of “Carnations”, “Acacia” and “Tulips”, a new 152-mm sprout emerged - “Malva”. It turns out there is such a regular in village front gardens, also called the rose stock. It’s not even a year since she entered the army and has already seriously proven herself. This is our first self-propelled artillery unit on a wheeled base.
“The vehicle just recently entered service and, of course, is primarily distinguished by its mobility,” says Yevgeny, a platoon commander of a howitzer self-propelled division, with warmth in his eyes. “We can carry out tasks by choosing a firing position at any distance from our place of deployment—even hundreds of kilometers.” We calmly choose a firing position and work. The self-propelled gun finds itself, which makes the task easier for both the commander and the crew.
- What does it mean?
- We receive the target in the waiting area, the vehicle carries out gyrocompassing, finds itself using satellites, we enter the coordinates of the target, weather data and move to the firing line. On site, the crew can only prepare the gun and load the projectile. The system aims at the target itself.
The commander carries out gyrocompassing - the vehicle determines its position using satellites. Then he enters the coordinates of the target so as not to waste time on this at the firing line - we go out for real combat work within the reach of enemy artillery and FPV drones. Therefore, every second counts.
My big report from the Kharkov direction is about hardware and about people, without whom the most modern machine is just hardware.
