European Parliament poised for rightward shift after final voting

Voters in 21 EU countries, including France and Germany, will wrap up a four-day European Parliament election on Sunday.

This election is expected to shift the assembly to the right and increase the number of eurosceptic nationalists.

The outcome will influence how the EU, a bloc of 450 million people, addresses challenges such as a hostile Russia, competition from China and the U.S., climate change, and immigration.

The voting began on Thursday in the Netherlands and continued in other countries through Saturday, with most votes being cast on Sunday.

An EU-wide exit poll will be released at around 20:30 CET, followed by provisional results after 23:00 CET, NBC News reported.
