John - Chapter 12 Summary:

John chapter 12 describes significant events leading up to Jesus' crucifixion, emphasizing His identity and mission. The chapter begins with Mary anointing Jesus' feet with expensive perfume at a dinner in Bethany, symbolizing her devotion and foreshadowing His burial. Judas criticizes this act, revealing his concern for money. Jesus then enters Jerusalem triumphantly on a donkey, fulfilling prophecy and being greeted by crowds with palm branches, hailing Him as the King of Israel. Jesus speaks about His impending death, using the metaphor of a grain of wheat dying to produce much fruit, and calls His followers to serve and follow Him. Despite performing many signs, many still do not believe in Him. The chapter concludes with Jesus summarizing His mission to bring light and salvation to the world and warning about the consequences of rejecting His message.
