Camel Description
The camel is a large, even-toed ungulate native to the deserts of Africa and Asia. Known for their distinctive humps, camels are well-adapted to life in harsh, arid environments. These humps store fat, which can be converted to water and energy when sustenance is scarce. Camels have long legs and padded feet, allowing them to travel long distances across sandy terrain without sinking. Their thick coats protect them from the sun, while their ability to close their nostrils and long eyelashes shield them from sand and dust.

Camels are herbivorous, typically feeding on dry grasses and thorny plants. They are also known for their ability to go for long periods without water, drinking up to 40 gallons in one go when they do find a water source. Camels have been domesticated for thousands of years, serving as pack animals, providing milk, meat, and wool, and even playing a role in traditional ceremonies and transportation.
