Former Bush Advisor Marvels at RFK’s Polling Numbers Even After He Admitted a ‘Worm Ate Part of His Brain!’
MCKINNON: “Well, that’s the great thing about Robert Kennedy, is that nobody’s clear who he hurts more, but the reality is he’s taking a big piece out of both of them and if you want to know who he’s threatening, just see who is attacking him. And at first it was Biden, and then it was Trump, so that’s the remarkable thing, he’s sort of an anti-vaxxer with an appeal on the right, and he’s a pro-environmentalist with an appeal on the left. But what’s really remarkable, Chris, is that, you know, we have a presidential election where you have two nominees and three-quarters of the country find those two nominees very acceptable, and a guy who says that a worm has eaten part of his brain is getting 16 percent of the vote, so the choices here are really tough for American voters. And Mark makes a great point. I’ve been affiliated before with trying to get their [inaudible] ballot access and the system is really rigged against it. I mean, the fact is that it’s a duopoly, the Democratic and Republican Party. And in every state, there’s either a Democrat or a Republican Secretary of State, and they make it absolutely as difficult as possible for anybody else to run. And, you know, the starting sum to get on the ballot in 50 states is, you know, about $50 million.”
JANSING: “Yeah. Not an insignificant amount of money even today, where money seems to be at least pouring in to the Democratic and Republican candidate, but we have some examples of exactly what both of you are talking about, which is this difficulty in getting on ballots. There are headlines in different states all around the country that are about the fight that he’s having right now. There you see a couple of them, to get on ballots. He’s also been fighting obviously to get on the debate stage. When you look at his campaign, Mark McKinnon, at this point, like, what’s the best case scenario for it? Is he really a significant challenger?”
MCKINNON: “Well, listen, in this environment, I think anybody’s significant. And, you know, he’s drawing 16 percent of the vote now and maybe won’t sustain that. But you know, if he gets two or three percent, if anybody does and the race is decided by thousands of votes, yes, it’s a problem. Now, I mean, from all reports, the Kennedy campaign is, you know, is a massive train wreck, completely disorganized, but it won’t take much to put a dent in this election, and so [inaudible] around is trouble.”
