Light Magic at Disneyland: A Spectacular Journey (1997)

Light Magic was the replacement of the Main Street Electrical Parade. This TV special aired on UPN celebrating the debut of the parade. Hosted by Alex Trebek and Tawny Little, this TV special included segments with many Disney legends covering Walt Disney history. You’ll meet Disney legends like Marc Davis, Margaret Kerry, Wally Boag, Betty Taylor, and more.
There’s also a few historical clips from Walt Disney history throughout the broadcast.
Alex Trebek is the beloved host of the game show Jeopardy while Tawny Little is a former Miss America, news anchor, and actress. News anchor Hal Eisner hosts a few man on the street segments.
Light Magic was an innovative attraction that was quietly retired in 1999. While the parade was not a success, many of these technologies are still used in the parks to this day.
This rare broadcast of the short lived attraction is part of Walt Disney history and you can see how Walt’s legacy was still revered at the time.
