Ukrainian POW told how he was captured in Kharkov region: ‘We had no chance’

06.06.24 - Roman Ruson told that he got mobilised after work. At the street, he got a draft notice, and after a medical commission he got to the units. All of this happened the same day.

At first, Roman served in a border security detachment in Lvov region, but at the end of April his unit was redeployed to Kharkov region. The AFU command didn’t notify the mobilised men about possible escalation of the situation.

‘They said that we would serve on the border. Shelling takes place there, but there are no active warfare there. We would just serve on the border,’ he said.

In the first real battle Rusov surrendered with his comrades.

‘There were powerful artillery strikes, our positions were obliterated. Then, grenades were thrown at us. We had no chances,’ he said. Source
