How to Self-Destruct a Car Company - The Docker Daimlers

Good Morning! :D

In the early 1950s, the Daimler company, one of the most famous luxury car builders in the UK, presented between 1951 and 1955, a series of specialised show cars that were the very epitome of affluent motoring, these machines being the brainchild of the famous Lady Docker, wife of the Daimler company chairman, and a major figure in the higher echelons of British society.

Sadly, the cost of these magnificent show cars was paid for by Daimler itself, as not was the company forced to develop and produce these bespoke products, which integrated such esoteric facets as Zebra hides and lizard skin, but it also was the main support for the extravagant lifestyle of the Dockers, who were more focussed on living in excess and exuberance, rather than ensuring the Daimler could remain competitive as the likes of Rolls-Royce and Bentley took away its market share.

The result was one of the most infamous motoring scandals of the 1950s, when facing a complete collapse, the Daimler company ousted the Dockers in a boardroom vote, and the show cars of Lady Docker would stand as everlasting testaments to the hubris of the socialites who had single-handedly run one of Britain's most renowned carmakers into the ground.
