The Egyptian Goose is a large waterfowl originally from Egypt and the Nile Valley region. Despite its name, it's now found across the world after being introduced to many countries as an ornamental bird. These geese have a long lifespan of up to 20 years in captivity. They have distinctive hazel eye patches and a dark brown body with a reddish-brown chest. Egyptian Geese mate for life and tend to nest in tree hollows or on raised platforms near water. They mainly eat seeds, grains, grasses and aquatic plants. In the UK, they're considered an invasive non-native species that can threaten native wildlife.
