SOMETIMES the bees rob you.

There were about a million more inside that room (where we stashed the honey)
And all it took was one little hole in the screen door. Had to wait a few hours for them to go home so we could get some work done.
And this is just one reason why honey is expensive and why few people are willing to get it themselves.
And that honey doesn't just jump into the jar by itself.

The most important thing i learned this day was not one of those bees had any intention of stinging anyone. They're basically grocery shopping. They're more aggressive in front of their hives. The only time you'll get stung in this situation is if you squish one of them accidentally. They'll land on you, get in your hair, walk across your shoulder. You have to control your own instincts that compels you to swat at them.....
I'm still working on that.
Only got stung once though. Didn't see the bee on me. She got me right between my fingers. BUT the neat thing about stingers is the sooner you get it out the less likely it is to swell. The stingers have a pump, like a heart. And with each beat the barbs on the stinger dig into your skin, pumping venom along the way.
This one didn't swell at all because i scraped the stinger off the second it happened. It just itched for a few minutes.
My son also told me to rub honey on it... so maybe that helped too.
