A Naples man is accused of submitting fraudulent information to purchase a gun at a pawn shop, according to the Collier County Sheriff's Office. According to an arrest report, Robert Whalen, 56, attempted to purchase a pistol from First Pawn Jewelry and Loan Store in February. In order to purchase a firearm, the prospective buyer must complete an ATF Form. According to CCSO, Whalen signed a document indicating that he was never convicted of a felony and had the right to posses a firearm. Whalen's criminal history indicated that he was convicted of guilty charges of felony in 2001 and in 1996.
