Along with Martin Luther, the other great personality of the Reformation was John Calvin, who was born in France in 1509, when Luther was about 25 years old. Calvin's sweeping intellect and genius helped to consolidate the thinking of the Reformation, and created the second great stream of thought originating from that era, the Reformed Tradition. While Calvin is often criticized and misunderstood, the effects of his contribution are impossible to overstate, and this two part treatment of his life attempts to give a fair summary of this remarkable individual.
