Two officers, Christopher Abreu, and his partner Richard Yarusso, both 26, were released from hospital.

Public safety officers in plain clothes say they stopped a suspect at 89th St. and 23rd Ave., in Elmhurst neighborhood around 1:40am this Monday morning.

Cops say they tried to pull the scooterist over, when the suspect began to run off, ditching the scooter behind.

Police say as they chased him, suspect pulled out a gun and fired at the officers, hitting one in the back and the other in the stomach.

19-year-old suspect was shot by officer in the leg and was taken away in an ambulance.
