STU SUTHERLAND: DOES HE HAVE THE CHAMPION MINDSET?

Welcome back to Muscle Central on YouTube. Today we'll take a look at Stu (Beef Stu) Sutherland.

Stu just landed a 4th place finish at the Cali Pro and the week prior took 4th place at the NY Pro. That was a good placing considering the depth of the lineup.

Could he have placed better? Many thought Cali would be a battle between Stu and Tonio Burton. Stu did improve in the finals but maybe there's things holding him back.

In a recent Menace Podcast that was filmed after the NY Pro and before the Cali Pro, Dennis James asked Stu to give his top predictions for Cali. To the surprise of Dennis, Stu didn't have himself in the top 5.

Dennis questioned Stu on why he didn't place himself in the top 5 (if not for the win). Stu's response was surprising to Dennis.

Stu said that he keeps his expectations low so that if he does better, it's a win for him. Is that a good mindsfor a competitor? Are you just setting yourself up for failure?

The mindset and attitude play a part in the ultimate outcome. Too often a people defeat themselves by accepting defeat before they even compete. That not a champion's mindset.

How can a person give all that it takes when they have that attitude? The winning mindset set can push you through grueling workouts and the suffering you do during contest prep dieting.

Stu has the potential to be a really good bodybuilder but he needs to change his mindset first. He needs the confidence that champions possess. Unless he does that it is unlikely that he has a lot of success.
