US President Joe Biden has announced a sweepingnew executive action aimed at curbing migrant arrivalsat the US-Mexico border.
It will stop migrants who cross unlawfully fromreceiving asylum, but only takes effect when thesouthern border has been "overwhelmed."
The Biden Administration says the action makes iteasier for immigration officers to remove people who are in the US illegally.
Immigration is one of the key voter issues ahead ofNovember's presidential election, and both Democratsand Republicans are seeking to prove their credentials on the topic.
