What is Eternal Life?

The idea of "eternal life" is so ingrained in the Christian mind that we often forget to reflect on its meaning. It is important to remember that eternal life is not something that first exists in relation to us, but is the life of the eternal God Himself (which He freely shares with us). What, then, can we say about this eternal life, and what does Jesus reveal about it?
