Hiking Margarita Peak: Santa Ana Mountains (Cleveland National Forest), CA.

The Santa Ana's aren't generally the place to be in the summer, since it gets really hot in this low elevation range. However, it was a convenient place for me to be on the day. On a Saturday, I had the mountain to myself, with great views over Camp Pendleton to the south. Meanwhile, I was able to check off another LPC summit from the peak climbers summit challenge of 86 assorted Southern California peaks. This was my 68th from the list. These challenges truly take me to places that I never would have gone otherwise, just because there are certain mountains there. However, its not about me, this lightly visited summit was definitely the star of the show for the day.
