Mother Bird's Unmotherly Conduct😮👀😨

This footage shows a Great Tit killing her chicks. Though surprising, I'm told the behavior, can happen for a reason. Some female Great Tits will abandon or kill their chicks if the father disappears. If there's still enough time in the breeding season, she might try raising a new brood with a different male. This is just what I was told as possible explanation for this harsh behavior.
