Den-Man Contractors was hired by the city to fill holes with uncontaminated dirt, but the company used dirty dirt from reconstruction projects on Interstates 96 and 94 along with commercial properties. Tests showed there was arsenic, mercury, and other toxins in the dirt. Owner David Holman and contracting manager David MacDonald were both given probation after being charged with felonies.
