Modern prosthetics reaches new heights every year. It compensates for the loss of an arm or a leg and it immensely improves the life quality of the person. Now, thanks to the development of technology, it is possible for one to live a quality life actively. However, high-tech prostheses are made not only for people but also for animals and this is a story of just such an animal.

The disabled dog happily running about the yard is Loki. He was born with one leg completely missing and the other deformed to a stub. His condition genetic: very similar to human beings, animals should not be bred closely, i.e. within the same bloodline as this practice produced genetical mutations that cause such bodily disfigurations. Appart from the physical conditions, genetic mutations that are a result of inbreeding can reflect on the brain functions or the immune system of the animal.

Loki, a year-old , chihuahua/beagle mix was one of 30 animals rescued from the home of a horder. However, now when the horror is just a thing of the past, this happy go lucky dog is given the gift of speed: a set of shiny new wheels he can use to spend his tireless energy running around and living his life to the fullest. He is a very sweet dog that never hesitates to show his affection and gratitude to his owners. The pooch was adopted by office manager Katie Orsenigo, 24, and car business owner Ron Petruska, 26, last May.
