From English-as-a-Second-Language learner a national speech competition champion, Anita Chen’s journey is full of inspiring stories. Her passion for English eventually led her to become an educator. Now, she is running for a congressional seat and tirelessly advocating for the victims of human and sex trafficking.

We also discuss the “Sound of Freedom” movie and its implications, and its wake-up call and raising awareness of child sex trafficking.

“It’s far more prevalent than most of us imagine. When we think of child sex trafficking, most of us picture a poor Guatemalan girl sold by her family to a brothel ... But the reality is that the vast majority of child sex trafficking cases in the United States involve American youth. That means youth who are born in the United States or are here legally,” Ms. Chen said.

Today, she explains why human trafficking is not what we may think and what impacts it has on the younger generation.
