WHY IT'S NECESSARY TO KNOW GOD'S VOICE

When I talk about knowing the voice of God, I often refer to my natural father and how I understood his voice. In the first part of my life, I spent a lot of time and had a close relationship with my dad. We were a close-knit family that traveled the highways of this nation together into my teenage years. I probably heard him preach 10,000 times before I was off on my own.
The last 30 years before he stepped into glory, we were separated by 250 miles.
Because of that, we had many phone calls that kept us connected. When he would call, it was not necessary for me to ask for the secret password to make sure it was him. As soon as he said hello, I recognized his voice because of our lifetime of relationship.
In the book of John the 10th chapter, Jesus details the shepherd's purpose and the sheep's nature. He tells us that his sheep know his voice and a stranger they will not follow. 
I talk a lot about the prayer of intimacy, where we have a face-to-face relationship with our shepherd. I believe that finding his face and building that relationship should be everyone's goal. After all, the scriptures tell us that we are to see the face of God. He would give us a command if there was no way to do that.
Don't be discouraged if you don't have the amazing spiritual experience that some other people may have. That will come in due time. Meanwhile, you have his voice in several ways. As beginning believers, we have the voice of our spiritual leaders, such as pastors, prayer warriors, and even our mother and father, as instructors in the ways of the Lord.
The voice of the Lord is undoubtedly heard through the word of God, which is read and taught to us as we develop our relationship with him.
It's critical that we learn to listen to his voice so that we don't miss his instructions in the little steps and major moves of our lives.
We will not be deceived by a stranger's voice when we learn his voice.
