Even though Joseph’s brothers sold him to the Ishmaelites, his oldest brother Reuben had wanted to rescue him! Reuben was not even there when his brothers sold Joseph to the Ishmaelites! Today let’s read Genesis 42:22 then Genesis 37:21-22 and 37:29-30. Then ask your Tiny Arrows if Reuben had tried to help Joseph like he said. Yes! He was even upset when his brother had been taken!

Reuben replied, “Didn’t I tell you not to sin against the boy? But you wouldn’t listen! Now we must give an accounting for his blood.”
Genesis 42:22

When Reuben heard this, he tried to rescue him from their hands. “Let’s not take his life,” he said. “Don’t shed any blood. Throw him into this cistern here in the wilderness, but don’t lay a hand on him.” Reuben said this to rescue him from them and take him back to his father.
Genesis 37:21-22

When Reuben returned to the cistern and saw that Joseph was not there, he tore his clothes. He went back to his brothers and said, “The boy isn’t there! Where can I turn now?”
