President Joe Biden expressed his support for his son, Hunter Biden, as the latter’s federal trial on criminal gun charges began on Monday.

Hunter Biden, 54, faces three counts related to his purchase and possession of a Colt Cobra revolver while struggling with drug addiction in 2018.

The trial, expected to last two weeks, commenced in U.S. District Court in Delaware.

President Biden, acknowledging his roles as both president and father, emphasized his love and pride for his son, stating that he and First Lady Jill Biden are supportive of Hunter.

Despite refraining from commenting on pending federal cases as president, Biden highlighted his confidence in his son’s strength and resilience.

The trial marks a significant moment, as Hunter Biden is the first child of a sitting president to face criminal charges.

The president also noted Hunter’s forthcoming trial in September on federal tax charges, NBC News reported.
