Runs 2:33 |. Sept. 7, 1980 - The Lions exploded out of the gate in 1980, with a surprising upset of the NFC Champion Rams, 41-20, at their new home (Anaheim Stadium). Rookie Billy Sims, in his first NFL game, romped for 153 yards and three touchdowns, averaging 6.95 yards per carry along the way. Together with Dexter Bussey 's 111 yard effort, the twosome became the first Lions since 1954 to run for over 100 yards in the same game.
