Layout and operation of Version 1.0 Portable Solar Power Module, with Victron 100/50 controller, 12/500 pure sine wave inverter, and 500A Smart Shunt power monitor.
This modularizes the basic equipment that I have been using for a few years now, making things much neater and easier to use: Only two wires to hook up (battery positive and negative), and with the Victron 100/50 controller, you can plug in up to seven 12 Volt 100 watt solar panels into the pigtails (they are set up for 30 Amp Anderson Power Pole connectors).
I usually use this with my modified Harbor Freight Tools # 57325 100 watt 12 V solar panels. I replaced the roughly 16 gauge 5 foot long wiring with a 20' piece of Powerwerx 12 gauge zip cord, and put Andersons on the end.
The extra cable length makes the panels MUCH easier to maneuver and follow the sun throughout the day.
Please see my HFT 57325 video on how I did the panel mods, and how to remove the ticking time bomb corrosive flux that was used in soldering the panel connections!
