My Soul Said with lyrics

In June of 2013, I gave my life to Jesus Christ, was reborn by his Holy Spirit, & became a new creature in Christ. Everything old passed away, & I was a newborn babe full of hope, light, joy, love, peace, & wonder. I am a seasoned believer now, but still blessed with those same attributes in the Lord, even thru my personal struggles in life & the collective troubles of our times.

11 years later, Jesus is everything to me, both because he is the one who created me, & also because of his great love & sacrifice for me. And not only for me, but for the whole world, as is said in John 3:16 & in 1 John 2:2.

I wrote this song expressing in poetic terms some of my process in coming to trust in him. I came from a paradigm in which I believed I should follow my own soul at any cost. But my own soul was not always so wise & often directed me to paths that eventually became quite damaging to me. It took getting to a very low point to accept that. My choice, in the end, was to instead trust the Creator of my soul, rather than my soul itself. And now my soul is so grateful that I did. And so I wrote this song “My Soul Said” as a record of my journey, as well as a love song for the true Lover of my soul.
