This is part 12 of my capture of me playing through my gold cartridge copy (Version 1.0) of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on the Nintendo 64. This is not an emulator and was not played on the Wii Virtual Console. This footage was captured directly from my Nintendo 64 using an actual Ocarina of Time cartridge.

In this twelfth part I completed the Fire Temple and then visited the Great Fairy in Death Mountain Crater who gave me a larger magic bar.

The original Fire Temple theme, which is featured in this video, is a major reason why I prefer my gold cartridge copy of Ocarina over the later versions such as the GameCube port or the 3DS remake. Starting with version 1.2, Nintendo removed the Muslim chant in the background and replaced it with a similar sound to what's featured in the Shadow Temple. It just doesn't sound as good to me, so I don't like playing the later versions of this game.

I actually didn't find out about the change until I pre-ordered Wind Waker in 2003 and received the Master Quest bonus disc for the GameCube. When I played the Master Quest for the first time, I noticed the altered music (as well as some altered symbols in game) and did a quick search to find out what had happened. That's when I discovered the different versions of the game.

Recorded with the Hauppauge HD PVR and the official N64 S-video cable. I used a Toshiba model D-R550 DVD Recorder to upconvert the N64's native 240p signal to 480i so that the Hauppauge could capture the console's audio/video signal.

I'm using a standard N64 controller.
