China’s robot dogs show off their skills

Half robot, half gun, all good boy.

New footage has been released of China’s robot dogs, participating in the China-Cambodia ‘Golden Dragon 2024’ joint military exercise. Yes, the robot dogs can sit, shake paws and jump around looking confused, just like real dogs, but they can also wield a gun and take an active role in combat situations, something we wouldn’t advise for real dogs.

The smaller of the two robot dog models weighs just 15kg, and can perform agile maneuvers, while its bigger sibling weighs in at 50kg and can take part in armed assault missions. Neither model will bark at its own shadow, stop for a pee every 30 seconds, or eat a bird house (totally not personal experience).
