Chad Daybell is sentenced to death in ‘doomsday’ triple-murder case

Chad Daybell was sentenced to death on Saturday, following a jury’s recommendation after convicting him of first-degree murder and conspiracy in the deaths of his first wife, Tammy Daybell, and two of his second wife’s children, 16-year-old Tylee Ryan and 7-year-old Joshua “JJ” Vallow.

The case, driven by motives of power, sex, money, and apocalyptic spiritual beliefs, captured national attention.

Judge Steven Boyce imposed the death sentence and an additional 15-year prison term for insurance fraud. Daybell remained expressionless during sentencing.

The jury found that the aggravating circumstances justified the death penalty. They deliberated for six hours on Friday and resumed Saturday morning, reaching a verdict shortly thereafter, CNN reported.
