Menhirs on the northern island of Russia
A purposeful study of the cult places of the Saami in Karelia was carried out in the 60's and early 90's, then it was continued by Karelian archaeologists in a joint expedition with colleagues from Scandinavia in 2000-2001. On the Karelian coast of the White Sea, Sami monuments were discovered on the island of Tapanukha and Bolshoy Robyak. These are the first burial structures of the Saami, found in Karelia.
