Determined Pitbull Plays NBA-Level Defense Against Teen Boy

Dogs and basketball have, we are pretty sure, gone together since the invention of the sport. Obviously, most dogs love to chase after balls. It is part of why we think dogs love soccer or, for our Latin American and European readers, futbol. It is as much about the chase as it is playing with their humans. What we always love to see is dogs that don’t just want to chase the ball. There is something to see a dog go for the game as well as the ball.

This pitbull is one tenacious defender. He sticks with the teenage boy while he dribbles around the driveway basketball court. Seriously, there are NBA level guys who don’t stick with their man the same way that this dog sticks with this kid. What I like about watching this dog go for the ball is that he never really tries to bite at it. Instead he uses his body, his paws and his head (but not his mouth). He actually tries to hit the ball with his paws a few times. Maybe a few fouls in there, but a decent attempt.

Later, when he steals the ball from the boy, he uses his head to try and push the ball around almost like he is also attempting to dribble the ball. This dog is where the phrase ball is life actually fits. Of course, he commits a flagrant two when he takes out the kid from behind when he goes up for a jump shot. Nicely the dog cares a little bit. He actually goes and briefly checks on the boy after he falls before going to the other kid who has the ball now. Of course, he may have been just looking for the ball.
