Cockroaches are often found on their backs when they are dying or already dead because of their body structure and how they handle poison. When a cockroach is exposed to insecticides or other toxins, it affects their nervous system, leading to muscle spasms and loss of coordination. Due to their relatively heavy bodies and light legs, these spasms can cause them to flip over onto their backs. Once in this position, their legs cannot generate enough force to flip them back over, leaving them stuck and vulnerable until they die.
