Canton Police said an 18-year-old male held his family hostage and then shot and killed himself.
Chief Brown said the mother of the 18-year-old called 9-1-1 after he held his mother and siblings against their will inside their home with two guns.
But when officers arrived after getting that disturbing call…
“Officers moved on up to the house taking precautions,” Chief Brown said. “When they got there the door got open and the young man was in the room area with one gunshot wound to his head.”\
“We don’t know a motive right now,” Brown continued. “We just know he was just holding them hostage in the house. We don’t know why.”
Brown says this week alone for the police department and the city has been too much to bear.
Over Memorial Day weekend, a string of shootings occurred in Canton.
“From Memorial Day on up until today, the guys and girls have been running to calls, shots fired calls, even a homicide, and it’s just a lot of stress going on here in the city right now.”
The 18-year-old’s name is not being released.
