Red Skeleton shares Pledge Allegiance

Red Skeleton shares a story about Mr. Laswell. Red Skelton's explanation of the Pledge of Allegiance was broadcast on The Red Skelton Hour on January 14, 1969. In the monologue, Skelton shared his interpretation of the pledge, which he based on a lecture given by an elementary school teacher in Vincennes, Indiana when he was a child. Skelton later wrote down and recorded his recollection of the lecture, and then added his own observations. His explanation won 42 awards and was included in the Congressional Record twice.
