After a trial lasting more than five weeks, DonaldTrump has been convicted of falsifying businessrecords in the first criminal trial of a former president.

It is the first time in history that a former US president has been convicted of a crime.

The 12 jurors deliberated for two days before reachinga unanimous verdict - the court heard from 22witnesses over six weeks, including Stormy Daniels,whose alleged sexual encounter with Trump was at the centre of this case.

Trump stood accused of concealing a payment madeby his former lawyer to buy the ex-adult film star'ssilence shortly before the 2016 election, he hadpleaded not guilty and claimed without evidence thatthe prosecution was politically motivated.
