China Becomes the Largest Weapon Supplier for Sub-Saharan Africa

05/28/2024 According to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, at least 21 countries in sub-Saharan Africa received Chinese arms between the years 2019 and 2023. Beijing is signing weapons deals with its existing allies in Africa and is wooing potential partners with its supply of arms, aiming to extend its influence across the continent. Africa is fast becoming a playing field for geopolitical rivalry between the US, Russia, and China.
