More than a million customers in Texas are without power due to powerful storms that have battered the state.

These storms, bringing hurricane-force wind gusts, caused significant damage in the Dallas area, where Dallas Fort Worth International Airport recorded a 77 mph gust.

The storms later hit Houston, with George Bush Intercontinental Airport recording a 75 mph gust. Power outages began in Dallas early Tuesday and spread south as the storms progressed.

Dallas County officials declared a disaster, warning that outages could last for days, CNN reported.
