Michigan AG files murder charges against a 25-year veteran trooper who fatally struck a suspect wanted on multiple warrants. Michigan AG Dana Nessel announced felony charges against a State Police trooper who fatally struck 25-year-old Samuel Sterling while driving an unmarked vehicle near Grand Rapids on April 17. Sterling was wanted on multiple warrants and tried to flee when officers approached him at a gas station. Detective Sgt. Brian Keely, 50, faces one charge of second-degree murder and one charge of involuntary manslaughter. Keely is a 25-year veteran of the MSP, and "has over 12 years experience of safely operating police vehicles without a single at fault accident in the performance of his duties."
